GE vs EMD Features
- GE have high adhesion trucks - like a top beam with boxy axle boxes below with coil springs visible on each side of each axle box.
- EMD have similar looking trucks on the SD70, but the side frame hide these springs.
- The only narrow nose locos running these days are EMD
- GE have a small flat section on the nose above the headlight, with angled down side sections, with a side profile that angles up towards the cab windows.
- EMD have much wider nose flat sections above the headlight, with a large chiseled out section on each side of the nose with the sand filler hatches in them. The side profile is flat back to the cab window.
